To ensure the safety of our students and staff, no visitors will be allowed in the building during the arrival or dismissal procedures. All of our staff are prepared to ensure every child enters the building safely and arrives in their class on time. The office will be available promptly at 7:30 and will be available until 1:45 and again after dismissal is complete until 3pm.
Arrival:
Every child has to proceed through the weapon detection units before entering school. If a student triggers the alarm, an administrator or School Security Officer must search the bags and repeat the "walk through" until the item causing the alarm is found.
Some everyday items that will cause this:
umbrellas
3-ring binders
metal pencil boxes
metal lunch boxes
eyeglass cases.
If your child has any of these items that are not needed for school, please ensure they leave them at home. If they are necessary items, please have them placed in the outside pockets to allow them to have the item in hand before their "walk through". This will help us ensure your child arrives at the classroom on time.
Dropoff Area:
- Please be sure to use the designated parent drop-off area for arrival (by the retention pond) and NOT the bus lane for drop-off.
- All students eat free breakfast.
Dismissal-
EVERY parent pick up needs a parent pick up pass in their windshield to pick up through the drive-through lanes.
- Please note that the front sidewalk is for walk-up parent pick-ups ONLY. No one should be parking in the Burbank lot and walking up to the front to pick up their student. Our goal is to keep this area clear for parent pick-up students and teachers.
- Please be sure to have your student practice his/her car pick up number and name (1st jitters will slow this down some, but we can be best prepared with some practice), and even possibly the color of the car. This enables our staff to assist students more efficiently.
- Please remember to remain in your car. Our staff will put your student in the vehicle and ensure the door is shut. If your child requires a car seat support, practicing self-buckling can be helpful.
-Please remember again that no adults are permitted into the school from 1:45 through dismissal. All early dismissals must be completed before 1:45.
- Please remember that all transportation changes must be in writing; no changes can be made via phone (as we are unable to account for identity over the phone). All changes to transportation should be made before NOON each day to ensure that the teacher has time to access the information.
- Thank you for your patience - rain and the first week make things longer, but on average dismissal goes quickly.
We thank you for your patience and understanding, as our goal is to guarantee the safety of our students. And we thank you for helping us keep your students safe! You are such a vital part of our Burbank community!!!
